-Shaban - 25 Fasli 1153 - Monday : 1 September 1746AD During The Days of Fortunate end of Raja Sultanji(HaibatRao) Nimbalkar of the Dignity of Amir and Governor, The Deshmukh, Deshpande, Muquaddam, Seth and Mahajan etc... of the Village "Shivthan" Pargana Jamkhed, Sarkar of AhmedNagar.. The Fort is Named "Sultan Durg" in the above mentioned Village was Renewed.-
A historical fort at Kharda is a historical tourist attraction. It commemorates the Battle of Kharda fought between the Maratha Confederacy under the Peshwa of Poona and the Nizam of Hyderabad, in 1795.
The Nizam was defeated in the battle and was Maratha's last battle. The fort is at ground level and still in good condition. Sultanraje Nimbalkar was the last ruler of this fort. The defeat was a politics as recorded by the Historians.
Now the fort is in very bad condition due to negligence by the government unlike other fort in maharashtra. Govt must maintain the fort because it is the historical sign of India.
